The Fellowship Diploma in Anterior Skull Base Surgery is an annual event
Consultants, Residents or Fellows in Neurosurgery, Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery are eligible to register as Dissectors
Every year WSBF will also organise a Fellowship Diploma Course in Lateral Skull Base Surgery in a similar format
The course includes over 70 topics, 40 hours of lectures and 40 hours of dissections and workshops
All the courses will be organised in Ramaiah Advanced Learning Center Bengaluru, India
The Dissectors, Assistant Dissectors and Observers will be selected on a frst come frst serve basis
Spot registrations will be allowed only to the extent of the number of seats, if vacant in each category
The fees for the courses will be paid upfront. The fees excludes arrangements for travel & accommodation
Registrations received before 90 days of the course commencement will only be eligible for CME points
Only 25 dissectors will be registered at the Fellowship on a frst come frst serve basis
All dissectors will be given a resource study kit one month before
There will be a commitment from the dissectors to attend all lectures and dissection sessions failing which they will not be elligible for certifcation as per university guidelines
A Fellowship examination will be held at the end of the course
The dissectors will be awarded the Diploma Fellowship Certifcate after successfully clearing the exam
There will not be a refund of the course fees if the dissector fails to appear for the course
Dissectors who have successfully cleared the exam will be awarded the certifcates at the ofcial banquet
The Best Dissector during the course wilI be awarded with an exclusive certifcate
All the dissectors who have completed the course will be inducted as permenant fellows of WSBF. This allows for a 10% discount on all future courses organised by WSBF
Dissectors will be given a priority in the selection process of Clinical Fellowship Program ofered by MAHE University & by World Skull Base Foundation
Only 20 Assistant Dissectors will be registered on a frst come frst serve basis
The Assistant Dissectors will have access to the resource study kit
The Assistant Dissectors are entitled to attend the lectures and the dissection sessions
The Assistant Dissector will assist the Dissector with instrumentation by standing on the opposite side of the workstation
There will be one Assistant Dissector allotted to each dissection tablee
There will be no refund of the registration fees if the Assistant Dissector fails to appear for thecourse
The Assistant Dissectors will get a certifcate of participation
The Assistant Dissectors are invited to the Ofcial Banquet
Payment will be done upfront for the entire course
Only 40 Observers will be registered on a frst come frst serve basis
The Observers will NOT have access to the resource study kit
The Observers are entitled to attend the lectures and observe the dissections but will NOT participate in the dissection procedures
The Observers will get a certifcate of participation
The Observers are invited to the Ofcial Banquet
Payment will be done upfront for the entire course
Please be in the Dissection hall on time.
Please be always quiet.
The hall has 20 dissector stations, plus one Master Station.
Each of the 20 dissectors will be allotted a table.
Two observers will be posted per Dissector Station.
Each Dissector will be given two large wet and fresh Skull Base bones involving temporal bone articulations. The second bone will be used only after the dissector has completed all the programmed steps in the frst bone.
Each Dissector will be provided with a fresh cadaver. The Dissectors will use one side of the head followed by the other.
The heads have been specially injected into both the anterior and posterior arterial system of the Circle of Willis & venous system to provide the best dissection experience. So please utilize the head well by identifying all intracranial and extracranial structures.
The cadavers have been radiologically scanned. So please take time to study the radiology of the bones before proceeding with dissections.
The demonstration by faculty will be followed by dissection by the participants in a step wise fashion.
Dissectors will not attempt to overshoot the schedule without fnishing the described steps in the proper manner.
No questions are allowed when the faculty is demonstrating. Observers to stay strictly at their designated stations & not crowd around the demonstartor.
Once the dissections of the day are completed, the dissectors must clean up the station and leave it as it was before the start of dissection.
Recording of the dissection by the faculty is not allowed using any audio-visual devices.
Direct photography or videography of the cadaver is not allowed.
All stations are equiped with a cadaver, microscope, high speed drill, neuronavigation & cold instruments. All dissectors to leave after cleaning the station as it was alloted, switch of the microscope & drill systems before leaving the hall.
All equipment provided to the dissector must be returned to the organising team as it was given. The dissector will bear the cost of damages or loss if any, to any of the equipment used during the dissection.
Food is not allowed inside the dissection or lecture halls.
